Well, I've finally finished crocheting a doily designed  by Patricia Kristofferson (hope I spelled that correctly!)... It's called 'momentous occasion' and I just love it! I used a much thicker cotton thread and larger crochet hook than most doilies would be made with, so the end product in this case was a lot bigger than doilies usually are - it's almost like a mini table cloth, but I'm very happy with it... I think I'll make some more as gifts for some of the lovely ladies I know (I'm pretty sure my mum wants one - I caught her drooling over it a few times!!)
I found the instructions quite complicated and difficult to follow, since this is the first time I've ever tried a more advanced project, but it got easier as I went along, and the end result is completely worth it!

rags to rugs!

A rag rug i made from tatty old denim jeans; pretty easy to do - just single crochet back and forth for the main part and one row of double crochet all around the edge. i cut the denim into a long strip of about 1 cm wide and used an 8 mm crochet hook. this rug is rectangle in shape, approx 1 meter by half a meter in size and took about 4-5 pairs of jeans. it looks a bit rustic and i made a few mistakes but i don't mind the 'vintage' look :)
